A Miami Christmas
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas! We certainly did!
We traveled to Miami to spend Christmas week with our middle son and fiance, and we have had so much fun, and eaten so much food!
My future daughter in law is Cuban-American and she is a fabulous cook. I’m thankful that I packed my “stretchy pants” for this trip because I have needed them!
On Christmas Eve, we met some of our future in laws and enjoyed one of their annual Christmas traditions which was a pig roast. I’ve never experienced one before and it was so much fun!
We were surrounded with wonderful conversations, lots of laughter, and a plethora of food against the backdrop of white lights, palm trees, and Christmas music playing in the background. It was so nice to be welcomed into this extended family with open arms and hearts.
When Christmas morning arrived, we opened gifts and then shortly after another feast ensued as family arrived to celebrate the day with Christmas brunch.
Brunch was another feast, and my favorite dish was Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish Omelette). It’s a traditional dish from Spain and one of the signature dishes in the Spanish cuisine. It’s an omelette made with eggs, potatoes, and onions, and it was fabulous!
Of course, desserts were plentiful, and out of all of them, my favorite is the dessert that my future daughter in law makes, the Tres Leches Cake (translation: Three Milks Cake). It is so scrumptious! You gain weight just by looking at it!
I think there is a diet is in my future when I get home!
We were able to do some antique shopping on Thursday and found some fabulous pieces that will be going into the online store next week.
Tomorrow, I’m excited to go wedding dress shopping with my future daughter, and then we will be heading home on Sunday. It’s been a whirlwind week filled with lots of love, laughter, and amazing food!
I want to wish each and every one of you a blessed and Happy New Year!!
Enjoy this week’s edition of French Country Friday!
