A New Book ~ French Vintage Decor
Bonjour! Have you heard? There’s a new French decor book in town! And it’s a must read if you love the French Country style!
I was so excited when I was asked to review this new book by one of my favorite blogging friends, Jamie Lundstrom.
Jamie is the creator of the beautiful blog, So Much Better with Age, and now she’s the author of this fabulous new book, French Vintage Decor.
French Vintage Decor is filled with page after page of easy and elegant, french inspired, DIY tutorials! As I read through Jamie’s book, I was struck by how many projects that I wanted to create, and I know you will as well.
With 70 different projects, there is something for everyone, no matter your level of DIY. There’s projects for the DIY novice as well as the experienced, with detailed step by step instructions.
I want to show you my favorite tutorials in Jamie’s book……..those that I have added to my “must do” list.
The first project that drew me in immediately was this tutorial on how to create a French trumeau mirror! I have actually already started on this project, but I didn’t get it finished in time for this post. I will definitely share my version of this trumeau mirror with you as soon as it’s finished!
If you know me at all, you know that I love topiaries and boxwood. So when I turned the page and saw the tutorial for creating this boxwood topiary in an aged urn, it immediately called my name!
How cute is this Press for Champagne sign?!? I adore this idea! I am going to create this and find a special place to display it in my kitchen or dining room! What a conversation starter! It would also make such a cute, whimsical gift for one of your Francophile friends!
This artwork created by dipping faux flowers in Plaster of Paris is so elegant, and perfect for the French home. I am envisioning a large canvas with a bouquet of these flowers mounted on it…..I’m definitely trying this project.
Jamie’s style evokes a sense of rustic French elegance, and nothing speaks more to that than this rustic French tray.
Modeled after antique French fruit drying racks, this is the perfect DIY project for creating a piece of iconic French decor.
I love decorating with wicker baskets. They are the perfect element in French design. Anytime I find one that’s stenciled, I swoon over it, but they can also be quite expensive. This tutorial is the perfect way to get the look without the price!
