How to Create an Autumn Tablescape with Garland and Wreaths!
Autumn is the season that tugs at my heartstrings, and brings joy to my soul. It’s the season that I
long for all year long, anticipating the crisp Fall weather, with the first whispers putting me in the mood
for caramel apples, college football, cozy throws, and evenings by the fire.
Autumn doesn’t last long enough for me. It seems to go by so fast, turning into winter before we have
a chance to really savor the season.
I feel like I just begin to enjoy my Fall decor when it’s time to put it away and start trimming for
Christmas. That sentiment is magnified even more so in blogland where everything has to be done
This year I’ve decided to decorate in ways that make the transition through the holidays easier, giving
me the opportunity to enjoy the decor a little bit longer.
When Tree Classics challenged me to create an Autumn tablescape using their Christmas garland and
wreaths, I was intrigued, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure I could pull it off, but I love the end result!
Using garlands and wreaths is a way to decorate your dining table for Fall and the Thanksgiving
holiday. When Thanksgiving is over, it will easily shift into Christmas!
When using faux garland and wreaths, take a few minutes to fluff them. This will give them a full and
It’s so easy to do. Just take a row at a time, working from the outside in, taking each tip and bending
them out and up. When finished stand back and take a look, and adjust any areas that need attention.
The wreath and garland that I chose to use are embellished with beautiful Autumn elements, such as
pinecones, acorns, and berries. They were perfect for the Fall season!
To begin, I placed the garland down the center of the dining table, fluffing the tips, and opening up the
On the end of the garland are two wire hooks, making it very easy to create a circle on each end of the
In the center I placed an antique plateau mirror that belonged to my mother. It’s so old that the bottom
has completely worn out over the years, but I cherish it, and love using it in decorating.
It makes the perfect piece to elevate a center display.
The garland received a few additions such as miniature white pumpkins, velvet acorns, and sprigs of
lavender. Adding these extra elements gave the garland more of an Autumn flavor.
With the addition of glass hurricanes filled with green apples, fresh Fall flowers in an ironstone tureen,
votive candles and velvet pumpkins, our Autumn tablescape is done!
Are you wondering how I used the wreath?
My favorite way to use a wreath is to use it as a base on an urn with something else placed on top of
it. Here, I placed it on top of an old cement garden urn, added sprigs of lavender and a few mini white
pumpkins, and nested a giant velvet pumpkin inside!
The wreath created the perfect base!
The wreath is pre-lit with pretty white lights for a dose of evening romance.
Turning on the little twinkly lights for an evening dinner creates the perfect ambiance.
After Thanksgiving, this tablescape will easily transition to Christmas by simply removing the pieces of
Autumn decor, and adding Christmas ornaments or festive ribbons.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our Autumn tablescape using wreaths and garland!
