Add warmth to your kitchen by decorating with copper!
Have you been noticing all of the copper accents being used in kitchen decor lately?
Some of my favorite bloggers have been adding these glowing metal elements into their kitchens, and I have fallen in love with the way it adds instant warmth, elegance, and a bit of rustic glam to a room.
It has started my on a quest to find a few copper pieces to add to our kitchen decor!
I recently found some copper pans at an estate sale and then a few French copper pieces at auction.
Since I’ve been drooling over copper accents in my blogging friend’s kitchens, I decided I would try decorating with a few pieces in ours to see how I like them.
I wasn’t completely sure in the beginning about adding this rich colored metal, but I have to say that I am loving the look.
Copper can be an inexpensive way to change the look of your kitchen!
Copper is so easy to add into your existing kitchen decor without breaking the bank, and it blends so well with other metals.
I hung a grouping of pans over the stove, layering the sizes just a bit, and then added a copper shaker on one side, and a copper tea kettle to the center of the stove.
I also found a pretty copper tray at an estate sale and I propped it up in the corner of the kitchen counter behind some of my English ironstone pitchers.
Just these few pieces bring such an elegant glow to the room.
Copper accents would look lovely anywhere in the house, but they look especially fantastic in the kitchen.
This warm tone metal pairs beautifully with white or darker kitchens, giving a warm, lush, and classic look, all at once.
The one piece I wish I still had…….
My sweet mother loved copper accents and had many pans, molds, and accessories, including a beautiful French copper chocolate pot that she found in an antique store.
She kept it proudly displayed on her stove.
When she passed away, my siblings and I didn’t want any of the copper pieces so we sold it……oh how I wish I had that sweet little chocolate pot now!
Isn’t it interesting how our tastes change over the years? I’m sure many of you have a similar story.
I will have to keep my eye out at the estate sales, auctions, and thrift stores and see if I can possibly find something similar to that long lost chocolate pot.
When I think how far our kitchen has come from where it was when we bought this house, I’m amazed.
In case you’ve forgotten, here’s a look back at how our kitchen looked when we moved in.
And what it looks like today…..
I still can’t believe the difference!
Bringing in the copper accents inspired me to bring in some Spring elements as well, and change a few things up…….one thing leads to another…..
A great thing about adding copper elements into your kitchen decor, is that it’s very budget friendly.
It can be found at flea markets, thrift stores, or estate sales, and all of the discount home decor stores are carrying a large variety.
And I’ve added some of my favorite copper pieces in our Amazon shop.
All you need are a few pieces!
Copper is the perfect touch for any home décor, regardless of it’s theme or trend, and it doesn’t take but a few pieces to make a huge impact.
A canister set, a teapot, a few pans, or even a copper colander sitting on the countertop holding fruit, will bring the wow factor.
If you want a new look for your kitchen, but you’re not in the position of completing an all-out remodel, decorating with copper accents may be all that your kitchen needs to give it a facelift and breathe new life into it.
Copper is one of those metallics that complements other metals beautifully, including your stainless steel appliances, while adding warmth and a distinctive beauty throughout your kitchen.
So what do you think of the latest copper trend?
Are you ready to get this look in your home?
Cheers, Cindy
I LOVE your kitchen! Bravo! You have given me a lot of ideas!
Is your rope trim on the cabinets real wood?
Hi Debbie! Yes, it’s real wood.
Absolutely love your kitchen, absolutely beautiful.
Do you use your copper pans ?
Hi Deborah! I’ve never cooked in the copper pans. I just like to display them in the kitchen!
I cant wait to read your blog! You are so elegant. Kitchen is amazing.
These folded-over rims are a telltale sign of copper sheet metal that is too thin to be useful for cooking. Fine if you want to just have them for looks, but if you’re looking for copper cookware that can actually do its job, look for pans made of thicker, heavier material.
Gugus, the pans that I show in this post are for decorating purposes only. We don’t cook in them.
I would love to know the white paint color and see on these kitchen cabinets in this post!
The cabinets are painted in Sherwin Williams Snowbound!
I loooove your style. Have it on my Pinterest boards. Would you be willing to tell me what your countertop company, color name is? Thank you so much! Karen
Hi Cindy, I love your kitchen. I have been thinking about refinishing my cabinets and absolutely love yours. Did you refinish them or are they new to your kitchen? thanks!
Hi Charlotte! The cabinets are original to our house. We just re-finished them!
Very stylish kitchen, I like how everything goes with each other.
Thank you so much!
I must say… your “Pots” are just beautiful! I enjoyed your post. Have a good Tuesday! Leticia
Thank you so much, Leticia!

Perhaps you can locate one that is close to your moms?
Honestly, I did not know what they looked like and your article was educational. Thank you!
Reading your blog is like a scented candle called “Perfect Inspiration” and it smells like summer morning on a porch.
Thank you so much, Holly!
Old copper was Tinned to make it safe for cooking in. After years of use they need retinning. Well worth the investment . Older pieces are much more interesting and have much more character than the new sleek copper cookware.
Thank you, Merritt!
I have been collecting some more copper pieces for my kitchen too! I used to have a LOT of copper but got rid of it and could kick myself too! Slowly getting a good collection back. I had a beautiful tea pot:( Glad I saved some molds. Just got a copper bowl yesterday!!!!
Love your copper additions! It certainly has brightened my kitchen too!
I love the copper in your kitchen, Amy! It’s been one of my inspirations!
Cindy–I love your kitchen! I have some copper pans that I have wanted to hang over the back of my cooktop also. I wonder how you attached yours.
Hi Josie! You can purchase pot racks that will attach to the wall to hang the pans on. Unfortunately, the way my stove is configured, one of those racks would not work, so I took small brass cup hooks and screwed those into the underneath side of the cabinets and hung the pans from those.
~Cindy~
Your kitchen looks so pretty with the copper pans, and I wondered how they are hanging there?? I have loved copper for years and in our laundry room we have a copper sink which I love !! Your white farm sink, may I ask what brand it is? I am thinking about changing out our sink for one!
Have a joyful Palm Sunday !
Blessings

Hi Paula! The way my stove is configured makes it impossible to use a wall mount pot rack, so I used small brass cup hooks and screwed them into the underneath side of the cabinets. You can find the sink that we have in our kitchen here: https://www.amazon.com/Barclay-FS31-31-Inch-Double-Farmer/dp/B0013ZZI6C/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1521893840&sr=8-5&keywords=barclay+apron+sink
Hi Cindy! Love the copper pans above the stove. I was going to ask you whether you could cook with them but someone else commented on that saying you could get copper poisoning. But it will look pretty even if you can’t use them. Is there a way to tell if it’s old copper vs new besides a few dents? Happy Spring! Hugs, Pat
Hi Pat! The new copper pans are designed to definitely be cooked in. A lot of the new copper pans have a stainless steel lining, and some are even non stick. None of the older ones have this. Fortunately, I’m only using mine for pretty decor!
G-orgeous! I LOVE COPPER!! My kids (grown) call me “copper crazy!” Of course I am “linen crazy” and “blue/white crazy”… Some things are classic and NEVER out of style, right?
You are so right, Deb! Thanks for commenting!
Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love the look of all the touches of copper. I don’t have any copper in mine, but you’ve made me want some now! Haha.. Love the look back at your kitchen transformation, too, truly amazing!
Thank you, Tammie!
There are come copper chocolate pots on Ebay. You might check that out.
Thank you, Toni! I definitely will!
The copper is a beautiful decorative touch but beware of actually using it for cooking. Many years ago I owned a copper teakettle that I used on a daily basis and my children got copper poisoning as it leached into the tea and foods when I used it. Too much copper in our system is not good for health.
I don’t plan on using mine for anything but decorative, but it’s a good point to share. Thank you for commenting, Marie!
I absolutely adore the addition of the copper Cindy! Like you, I’m loving it lately and it adds so much warmth and depth, especially when the kitchen is white. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it before, but I’m IN LOVE with your ceiling! Wow! It is just amazing! Your whole kitchen is just lovely:)

Thank you, Sheila!
Sooooo pretty!!!
Thanks, Courtney!
Looks wonderful Cindy. How I wish I had my mom’s. I remember it as clear as day. It wasn’t big but so pretty.
Cindy
I know exactly how you feel, Cindy! My mother had such pretty pieces of copper and of course, I didn’t want any of it…..I wish I still had it!
The copper pieces look great in your kitchen. I have been using copper in my kitchen for many, many years. It always seemed Country French to me. Plus I love cooking with copper.
That’s wonderful, Penny! I’m a little late to the “copper party”, but I’m loving the way it looks in our kitchen! Thank you so much for commenting!
I love antique copper too…beautiful when shiny…how do you clean it once it starts oxidizing? Would love a good product. I use salt/vinegar and Never Dull wadding.
Sherry, this is the product that I’ve always used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083PEZ00/?ref=exp_inf_pl_edithandevelyn
I used to have a huge collection of copper and when we sized down, just kept a few pieces. So glad I did! Your kitchen is just stunning and thanks for the reminder that copper & stainless look good together. Sometimes I second guess myself!
Yes, copper mixes so well with other metals! Thanks for commenting, Cheryl Ann!
I have always loved copper in the kitchen. I have mine hanging from an iron pot rack over island. I just purchased more this week from a consignment store. To me it is a warm classic look for the kitchen. Love your collection.
Nancy, your display of copper sounds beautiful! I wish I had room in our kitchen for a pot rack over the island, but it just isn’t big enough. Thanks for commenting!
Good morning Cindy. You always amaze me with everything you ad to your beautiful home. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Françoise! You are too kind and I appreciate it so much!
I think I know what is missing from my kitchen!!! Thank you for the inspiration!!
The hunt is on!!!!
Oh, yes, you need some copper in your kitchen, Margie! What an amazing difference it makes with just a few pieces!
I bought a few pieces of copper while in France for a very good price and wish I had bought more!…I love copper…had replaced my brushed nickel kitchen hardware with copper hardware and loved it…replaced it again with the nickel thinking of re-sale issue with the house being on the market…I am very close to replacing it again!…Your kitchen truly sings beautiful notes with the classic look of copper!
Thank you, Shirley! I think you should put the copper hardware back!
what are the cabinet pulls you used?
They are from Lowe’s.
