Spring has finally arrived in our dining room!
This week I’ve been playing musical chairs as well as adding a few touches of dining room spring decor! We’re having typical Spring weather around here…..warm and sunny one day, and cold, windy, and snowy the next!
I’m so ready for Spring and fresh flowers!
I was in our attic the other day, moving furniture and boxes around looking for something (that I never found!), and discovered two cane back french chairs that I had purchased a couple of years ago at an estate sale.
I already had four similar chairs that I used at our breakfast table, and I remember when I bought the two extra, that I had intended to use them all together in the dining room.
They needed a little bit of a makeover to match the four I already had, so I drug them downstairs and did a quick update (more on that later).
Our dining table is pretty long and can seat eight people easily, so I swapped the cane chairs in the breakfast room for the grain sack chairs in the dining room, now giving me six cane backed side chairs in the dining room……did you follow all of that?!?
I love the way they look in this room now!
And since I was refreshing a little bit with the new chairs, I decided to bring in a few Spring touches.
Placed in the center of the table is a large French jardiniere filled with faux flowers and greenery….there’s nothing blooming here yet, so I have to make do with the faux kind!
On the sideboard I placed my favorite old birdbath filled with moss, nests, and birds, along with a few dried hydrangeas.
I added a sweet moss rabbit on one side and a new lamp from Soft Surroundings on the other.
I love having six (quasi matching) side chairs in the dining room now!
I’ll show more of the before and after in a separate post but it was really easy!
Cheers, Cindy
Update: See the makeover for this set of cane back chairs HERE.
I need a dining room table and chairs to go with a Hoosier hutch and another oak side board I have in my dining room. The one you are using for your makeover is just what i’m Looking for. Can u get one like it for me.
Hi Felice! Unfortunately, the table came from an estate sale. I would suggest checking out your local flea markets, antique malls, auctions, and estate sales to find something similar. Also, Craigslist and Facebook marketplace are good sources.
Cindy,
Exquisite Dining Room!
I count your discovery in the attic . . .Great Finds take two!
No, I didn’t follow you. . .I got lost right after the kitchen,
but I’ll be back to see how you refinished the chairs in your upcoming post.
Your Spring touches have me inspired to bring out my moss covered bunnies!
Like you, I’ve been refreshing some accessories with a coat of paint,
a bit of stain and drying time before a reveal can be completed.
Your post is always inspiring. . .
Pat
Thank you so much, Pat!
Oh my goodness! I love that mirror!
Thank you, Julie!
What a beautiful room! Inspires me to update mine for spring! The lamp works perfectly in it as well!
Thank you so much, Jessica!
So beautiful. I love that fabulous mirror. Your Easter post here is breathening
Thank you so much, Ivory!

That’s wonderful, Carol! Thanks for commenting!

TFS~
Mari
Thank you sweet Mari!
Love the chairs so much Cindy! I wish I had an attic where I could “find” items like yours, haha!
And that jardiniere! You know I’ve been looking for one for what feels like forever! Yours is stunning!
Sheila
xo
Thank you, Sheila!
There isn’t anything that I do not LOVE about your home and how you decorate it Cindy!!! Even though it’s snowing here in Ontario, Canada, looking at your pictures makes me feel like it’s Spring and it’s time that I start decorating for Easter.
Thanks for the motivation that I needed.
P.S.Please continue to include RubyLou in the pictures, she’s adorable.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Maria! And Miss RubyLou says “thank you” too!
Love it! you are such a talented decorator! Thanks for sharing! Leticia
Thanks for commenting, Leticia!
As always, your home and decor are breath taking! You’ve inspired me to decorate my large urn in my kitchen with spring touches. Can’t wait to see the rest of your gorgeous home! ~ Dell
Thank you, Dell! Have a great weekend!
Love the chairs in the dining room and those faux flowers in that jardiniere is beautiful! I’m like you I buy and store until I can figure out where to put it…I’ve always been addicted to home and garden stuff. Friends say my house could be a store…lol
Lol, Nancy, I know what you mean. I buy some things that I have no idea where they will go but they are too fabulous to pass up!
Love the chairs, love the flowers, especially love that mirror – wherever did you find it? Everything is just beautiful! I have a question regarding the drapes. Drop cloths, correct? Where do you find them that are in one piece and not several lengths sewn together?
Carolee, these are the drop cloths that I use (affiliate link):http://amzn.to/2G9OCML. They are 100% cotton duck and I like to bleach mine before I use them.
Now you have me heading out to the garage to bring in that chippy, rusty plant stand that I will fill with those dried hydrangeas from the fall! (I was so comfortable just sitting with my cup of coffee, lol!) Despite dealing with not one, but two NJ nor’easters in less than a week….with possibly another on its way, I def need to get my head into spring and save my sanity! Thank you for the motivation and hugs to that gorgeous RubyLou! oxoxo
Oh, Susan, I know you are definitely dreaming of Spring with all of that bad weather you’re having! Yikes! Stay safe and warm!
Simply gorgeous Cindy, ….you never disappoint!
Thank you, Nancy! You are so sweet and I appreciate your support so much!
Beautiful Cindy, love the chairs. The mirror is so pretty. You seem to find great mirrors often. The centerpiece under the mirror is wonderful with the moss laying the groundwork
Cindy
Thank you so much, Cindy
OMG this looks so perfect!! Only you would have two cane back French chairs in your attic!! I have a similar arrangement on my dining room console for spring touches….I will say I just love that green and gold mirror! Its one of my favorite things you own.
Ha Ha, I tend to “collect” french chairs, put them in storage, and then forget that I have them. I think I may have a problem. That mirror was left in the house by the previous owners….I couldn’t believe it!
Ahh..a scnauzeroonie, beautiful. We will never stop missing our little boy Kirby. Love the spring as well as the new lamp.
Thanks, Jill! Schnauzers are wonderful, aren’t they?!?
Your dining room looks just beautiful! Your spring touches are so pretty, and your centerpiece is gorgeous!!!
Thank you, Shannon!
I don’t care if the flowers are faux. They look gorgeous in the French jardiniere. Lovely post. Thank you
Thank you, Cindy! I love fresh flowers, but unfortunately there’s nothing blooming around here at the moment. Faux flowers certainly aren’t the same as they were in my mother’s generations….they are so real looking now!
Cindy you are a wonder. Everything is so perfect and wonderful. I wish I could live near your home and could have the opportunity to know you. Thank you again for sharing your talent. My heart is now fill with beautiful and unique decor.
Françoise, you are so kind, sweet friend! Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
Great chairs Cindy! I love seeing your beautiful dining room and love the beautiful pops of Spring green!! Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you, Shirley!
