Our framed miniature signatures have been getting lots of attention lately!
My favorite interior spaces are those that are decorated with unique and special one of a kind pieces. Those memorable pieces that you won’t see anywhere else. I think that’s one of the biggest reasons that I love decorating with vintage and antique pieces. Your home won’t look like everyone else’s, it won’t be “cookie cutter”, and will reflect you and your personality.
Several months ago, I was going through a box filled with old paperwork and antique books that had belonged to my parents and grandparents.
There were antique and vintage documents in the box, as well as old notes and a couple of antique bibles. Seeing the handwriting of my loved ones that are no longer here filled me with such sweet nostalgia. There’s something so sweet that tugs at my heartstrings when I see those scraps of paper with the handwriting of my parents and grandparents.
One of the items in the box was a very old tattered bible. The cover had come off and the pages were literally in pieces.
As I gathered the loose pages together, I found the flyleaf, and written with old pen and ink was my grandfather’s signature.
It was in a beautiful script, something that is unfortunately, now a lost art. I held the page in my hand for a moment, remembering many sweet moments with my grandfather, and wondered what I could do to preserve his signature.
It just so happened that I had bought several miniature gilt wood frames at an estate sale and had been saving them for a project, even though I didn’t know what that project was going to be.
After seeing the treasured signature of my grandgfather, I decided that those miniature frames would be perfect for framing it, as well as signatures of other family members that are no longer with me.
After searching for other handwritten signatures belonging to my grandmother, my parents, and my mother and father in law, I simply cut them out in the size that I needed for mounting in the tiny frames and placed a cardboard backing on the back side.
Two of the miniature frames were smaller than the other four, so I hung the smaller one in between the two larger frames on each side of our antique French church board.
I had already hung four of our religious intaglios on this wall, and the miniature framed signatures were the perfect size for displaying in between them.

Many of you probably have old documents, cards, letters, notes, or even recipes from loved ones that would be perfect to frame and display in your home, creating a very unique one of a kind arrangement.
Of course, you don’t have to have vintage frames. There are some beautiful miniature frames on Amazon.
There is such a sweetness to seeing our loved one’s handwriting whenever we pass by this wall. And I could easily see these framed signatures being passed down and treasured by the next generation.
If you don’t have enough for a wall display, consider sitting a single framed piece of handwriting on an easel and display it on a side table or bookshelf.
After posting the makeover of the French demilune cabinet a few weeks ago, I’ve been getting lots of questions about what was displayed inside those miniature frames, and now you know! I hope this has inspired you to create your own!
Cheers, Cindy
Lovely project with cherished treasures.
What a clever idea. I have framed Grandma’s recipes in floating glass for my kitchen backsplash and Velcro them onto the tile. Easy to remove and flip over when you use the recipe. My mom died from COVID in 2020 so that Christmas my daughter took a card mom had written to me and had her signature “Love, Mom” made into a bracelet in mom’s own beautiful handwriting. I cried when I opened it. she also had a family favorite recipe of mom’s printed onto a tea towel in her handwriting. My mother in law had beautiful penmanship too, maybe I’ll copy your idea for my husband.
Oh, such sweet ideas, Pamela! Thank you so much for sharing!

That’s awesome; brilliant idea!
What’s beautiful idea!
Love this! I’m going to look for my family’s old signatures!
What an amazing sweet idea! Love it!
Hi Cindy, I’ve followed you for awhile now, and I love your style and how you bring new life to old pieces. I have an old piece that I want to “renovate” and I love the colors on the demilune chest below the lovely display you have on this wall. I don’t recall if you refinished this piece or you purchased it, but I would love to know what colors you used if you did do the work. I’d love to try to replicate the look. Thanks so much!

This is a marvelous idea! Thanks for the inspiration ❤️
I love the signature idea! I have a box of cards, sent to me as a child, from my Grandparents who lived next door. Never thought about framing some until now. Thanks. I have several old photos I’m going to use as in an ancestor photo wall. These would be great additions.
I noticed them immediately and wondered! I absolutely love this idea and they are perfect in those spots ❤️
I love this idea! You are such a trendsetter!
Absolutely love your two blue chairs.
Oh how precious! This is right up my alley. I am the keeper of the family stuff here. Thinking that this will allow me to get rid of some piles while keeping the thing that is most precious. I remember trying to rid myself of old Christmas, birthday cards, etc. As I threw away the card I kept my Grandparents notes, the page with their handwriting. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
