We are so excited to be partnering with Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes Magazine today on our French Country Fall Home Tour, along with twelve of our very favorite french country bloggers!

Many years ago when the boys were small, I always went over the top with Fall decorating which always involved digging through multiple boxes of decor. Most of it was in the traditional Fall colors of orange, brown, red, yellow. It was always fun to decorate, but boy, did I hate having to put it all away!
Times have changed. Now I get to decorate for myself {hubby could care less}, and today my seasonal decorating style is much simpler, with softer colors in blues, greens, and cream tones, with added touches of gold, and maybe just a tiny touch of the traditional orange here and there.

When I recently found this fabulous linen cabinet from Soft Surroundings, I knew that I had the perfect place for it in the master bedroom. It has a smaller footprint, so it works in so many rooms for extra storage, and comes in two colors.
I chose the color Verdigris because of it’s blue green tones.
The cabinet was the launching point to decorate the rest of the master bedroom for Fall, and it was pretty easy, using things I already had…..my favorite velvet pumpkins, dried hydrangeas, and boxwood.
I added a pretty blue princess pumpkin and a potted mum and it was done!
The finish on the Fantine Linen cabinet is gorgeous. The design is based on an antique linen cabinet found in Marseilles, and the distressed, hand painted finish is just beautiful.
I love the hardware on it which was perfect to hang a small boxwood wreath.
Our master bedroom is such a lovely, large space with large banks of windows on two walls.
It’s the perfect space for having coffee in bed on a chilly Fall morning and watching the falling leaves outside, or the gentle falling snow in the winter.
Miss RubyLou kept getting in the shots so I told her if she wanted to be in the pictures, she needed to put the appropriate clothes on!
We pulled out the Fall sweaters for RubyLou to try on, and they were a little big for this precocious 5 month old, so we rolled the sleeves up so she could make her debut!
She makes the perfect Fall accessory!
The colors of these dried hydrangeas are the perfect shades of blue, lavender, and green. It was easy to fill a garden urn with them, and place a gilded pumpkin, as well as one of the moss pumpkins that we made, beside it on the bedside chest.
I don’t know if you noticed, but I recently made a change to the French cane bed. It had been painted all white, but I decided a couple of weeks ago to stain the caning, to bring a little more warmth to the room. I have to say, I’m loving the change.
I was able to store some extra quilts inside the Fantine Linen cabinet for the cooler weather, that I’m hoping is right around the corner.
I love Fall and cooler weather, the changing of the leaves, sweaters and boots, a crackling fire, hot chocolate, and football.
Yep, Fall may indeed be my very favorite season!
Hubby’s side of the bedroom got a little bit of Fall decor, as well, by changing out the large candlesticks to hold the moss pumpkins, and an ironstone pitcher filled with dried hydrangeas. He’s fine with whatever I do as far as decor goes, as long as he has just a little bit of space for his own things.
I have this beautiful antique French loveseat sitting under the windows, making it the perfect spot to curl up under a blanket and read a good book. I always keep a throw there, just in case……
I brought a gorgeous potted mum into the room and placed it into an old architectural capital, sitting at one end of the loveseat.
After another wardrobe change, Miss RubyLou decided to show you where she likes to snuggle up…. under a fleece throw!
Can you tell that we are completely smitten with her?

Beautiful! Where did you get the 3 mirrors above your bed?
All three came from various estate sales.
Hey there! I love your room! Where did you get your 3 mirrors above your bed? Thanks!
They are all antique from various estate sales!
Hello Cindy, I have just discover your site a couple of months ago. I know , where have I been!!!. I love the linen cabinet from Soft Surroundings but they don’t do furniture any more. I always wait too long… do you know the furniture maker or any where else to find one like it? Appreciate all you do. Thank you , Theresa
Hi Theresa! Unfortunately I don’t know the furniture maker on the linen cabinet. I just took a quick google search to see if I could see something similar and didn’t find anything. I’m so sorry! I wish I could be of more help!
Thanks for looking, you never know when something will turn up. Theresa
Do you have an antique store or just sell on ETSY?
Hi Shirley! At this time, we only sell online.
i would love to know where the chandelier is from? thank you!
Hi Bree! Here’s our affiliate link to the chandelier: https://amzn.to/2zl680M
Your bedroom is very pretty. However…..LOVE the Schnauzer 🙂 We lost our Kirby a few years ago and still miss him so much. Being much older we have decided not to have another dog…but there is nothing like a sweet Schnauzer. So smart, so amazing.
Thank you, Jill! Yes, Schnauzers are wonderful pets. RubyLou is our third and she is spoiled rotten. I’m so sorry for your loss of Kirby, it’s so hard to lose these precious little fur babies.
I have just stumble upon your blog and I am looooving it!! I am planning to try planking our ceiling and I so appreciate you showing how you did it!
You’re entrie blog is wonderful and inspiring!
Thank you so much for your sweet words, Diane!
I absolutely love your bedroom, I found you on Pinterest! I am re-doing my bedroom and you have given me so many great ideas. I had wanted a king size cane bed for so long and thought I would never find one, but as I was walking through an antique store on day I spotted it. I’m in love with it. I too am going to paint it antique white. I love the stain you added. You have given me courage to go bold with many colors! The fact that your curtains are drop cloths blows my mind. They look amazing. Where did you find them and how did you make them look so great? Finally, your puppy is precious!!
Thank you so much Suzanne! The drop cloths are from Home Depot. I always wash the drop cloths with bleach before I hang them. Then I hem them all the way around, and if you’re not a sewer, you can easily use iron on fusion tape (from Hobby Lobby). In the bottom hem, I usually will add a few metal washers for just a bit of weight at the bottom for hanging. The last thing I do before I hang them is iron them, and using heavy starch, I iron pleats into the top of them. Then I just hang them with the clip rings onto the pole. I hope that helps!!
My favorite in that lovely room is your chair skirt in the pretty blue, very pretty
Thank you Susan!
Cindy , I am new to your site and found you on Pinterest. I must say I am quickly becoming a huge fan. Can you share what fabric your master curtains are or where you purchased them? Thanks, Cindy A.
Thank you so much Cynthia! I made the roman shades using toile fabric from Hobby Lobby, and the drapes hanging over the roman shades are…..drop cloths! 🙂
What a lovely and serene room to snuggle into. Little RubyLou you are just so incredibly adorable I just want to kiss the top of your sweet little head!
Cindy, your bedroom is absolutely dreamy and I am obsessed with your adorably puppy! I love the soothing colors and everything in the room I especially love the painted cabinet. I have a cornet cabinet in my bedroom and I am now rethinking the color I plan to paint it after seeing yours. I have the same angel as the one on your wall on a high ledge in my family room so we apparently have similar taste. I was wondering about the pleated skirts on your chairs. Were they completely re-upholstered? Are the skirts permanently attached or are they removable? I have cats that have ruined the original fabric and would love to do something similar.
The pleated skirts on the chairs are slipcovers, which make them so easy to remove and wash.Thank you so much for commenting!
Hello! You made another change in the bedroom and i am dying to know~copycat that i am~where did the comforter come from? It’s the perfect blue. I used the toile and made roman shades ( that fabric has been on my couch for years) and bought the check duvet cover, which i love, but want the blue too!!! Cheryl
Thank you Cheryl! I bought the blue duvet and shams from http://www.countrydoor.com. However, I purchased them about a year ago, so they might not be available any longer. Thanks for commenting!
Although I have been reading your blog for quite a while and have never dared comment it , I would like to tell you how much I appreciate it! I am French and I have been collecting antiques and bygones for decades and our two homes are full to the brim with what you collect and especially with china , glasses etc…for I like the table to be stylish and in keeping with the season too.
If you come to France and would like to have some fun, let me know…but you will have a shock for I like the wood to retain its original color and it will seem dark to you! All the best on the future developments of your beautiful home!
Oh, Martine-Claire, I just know your home is beautiful! How I would love to visit! If I ever do, I will let your know! Thank you so much for commenting, it means so much to me!
Ruby is adorable. Love her green sweater. Everything looks so beautiful.
Kris
Thank you Kris!
Love the changes you have made to the bedroom but I must confess, Ruby Lou is the best part! She is adorable and of course you should be smitten with her.
Thank you Deborah! RubyLou is the perfect accessory for the bedroom! Thank you so much for commenting!
Your room is so beautiful! And I love the new baby in her fall sweater. Your bed is soooo pretty. Did you paint the caning? I love the way it looks. Thanks. Kay
Hi Kay! Yes, the caning was painted white like the rest of the bed, but I recently decided to stain it. I love the way it turned out! Thanks so much for commenting!
Would you mind sharing how you stained it? I am thinking of trying to do my dining chairs. Thank you, Cindy!
Hi Kay! I use acrylic paint in the color Burnt Umber from the craft store. I thin the consistency just a bit with water, and then using a small artist’s brush (approx. 3/4″ wide), I brush it on the caning. Hope this helps!

OK…..so your bedroom is so cozily lovely….but I have to say, I think Ruby Lou stole the show!
Thank you Toni! RubyLou is quite the camera “ham”.
Your master is gorgeous. I love all the little touches you add: small pumpkins and boxwood wreaths. Ruby Lou has quite the personality. I’m curious – what was your style before French Country? My home is quite colorful and eclectic. But these soft colors are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your beautiful renovations and how-to articles.
Thank you Anne! For many years, my home was decorated in the jewel tones, reds, greens, and yellows, more on the Charles Faudree side of Country French. Thanks for commenting!
I fell in luv with your bedroom when you revealed it some months so… didn’t think it could get any more beautiful. But you did it!!
Like you, when the boys were little, I drug out scads of orange and burgundy décor. Ugh!!! One year, I just never put it away. I gave it all away! Now I do sparingly… in tones of neutral. Dried floral, twigs and pale gourds. You are inspiring me to add moss balls.
Happy first Friday of Fall.
Thank you Gee! You definitely need some moss balls!!
Cindy, I love everything you do with your decor! Your master bedroom is gorgeous! I love the new cabinet! Beautiful details throughout the room. I must say Ruby Lou steals the show! What a natural in front of the camera sport hinge all her colorful sweaters. SHe is just precious!
Thank you Sandy!
I love your colors, beautiful soft blues, greens, and creams. I haven’t done fall decor in a while because of the traditional fall colors aren’t that appealing to me. However, I love what you have done! Ruby Lou is adorable. The perfect model!
Thanks Gerri!
Move over Scobby Doo and make way for Ruby Doobie Lou! How Adorable! Thanks for making me literally laugh out loud this morning!

Thank you Debbie!
Cindy, everything about this room is just stunning! I love that cabinet and have been wondering for a while if I’d have a place for it in my home. You styled it so beautifully and now I want it even more… 🙂 I love the touches of moss with the dried hydrangea and how lovely the mum looks in the capital. But mostly what surprises me is how well behaved that pup is! And what a cutie!! Lovely post.
Thank you sweet Lory! Enjoying being on this tour with you!
Cindy – I never tire of seeing photos of your master bedroom – it’s divine!! Love the new cabinet and of course ditto to what everyone has said about RubyLou!!
Celia
Thank you Celia! Miss RubyLou says “thank you” too!
Lovely! Your little RubyLou is a kick! She’s enjoying posing I think. Love the shot with her front feet on the pumpkins.
Thank you Teddee! She loves those velvet pumpkins, though I don’t think she’s crazy about the stems….she wants to chew on them!
Cindy! Your room is just exquisite. I can’t even pick a favorite thing because every picture is just filled with perfection. Ruby Lou? She is just a little doll. Perfect tour. I’ll be coming back to study this one over and over again.

Thank you Diane! The Santos angel was a gift from hubby several years ago (purchased from Ballard Designs). We mounted it on to a salvaged french mirror frame with a burlap backing. Thanks for asking!

Thank you Patricia!
