We did a little treasure hunting over the holiday weekend and found several nice things to bring into the shop. We’ve also been getting some of our shipments in from France and I though I would share a few sneak peeks.
I had so many wonderful comments about my Holy Family statues that I used in my holiday decor, so I was excited when we found this beautiful large statue of the Holy Family. I’ve never seen one quite like this style and size. If I didn’t already have a couple, I would be very tempted to keep this one. It’s large and heavy, and dated on the back 1904.
We have some wonderful antique French rosaries, and a very old French icon with the street in Paris stamped on the back. We also found several gorgeous antique jewelry caskets.
I love Parian bisque and we found two wonderful pieces. One is a gorgeous French bust and the other a lovely large cherub lamp. Both are in wonderful condition.
We also found this amazing, antique, carved wood santos of the Virgin Mary with Christ Child. These really old ones are so hard to find and this one appears to be completely intact, other than some wear to the paint.
We had several other religious pieces come in, including an 1800’s priest’s vestment with beautiful needlework featuring the Christogram.
We were finally able to pick up the large church statue of St. Joseph from one of our pickers in Florida. He is amazing and in stunning condition. I photographed him next to my large church angel. He has the most amazing face. He is a little over 4′ tall.
We also have some lovely French pottery, a gorgeous large French jardiniere, and something that is a bit of a curiosity……I’m not sure what they are but they intrigued me enough that we brought them home. Made of terracotta, they appear to be some kind of architectural salvage. Made of terracotta, they are inscribed with French language and one features the French bee symbol, the other a star. They would be an interesting wall hanging.
One piece of furniture that we found this weekend was a beautiful old French chifferobe with gorgeous hand painted details. I originally walked away from it because it was painted in green, a color that doesn’t work with my color scheme. But three hours later, I was still thinking about it. Knowing that I needed to listen to that nagging voice, we went back to the estate sale, hoping that it hadn’t sold yet, and surprisingly it hadn’t. I took some quick photos of it and emailed them to my sister, feeling pretty confident that she would see the beauty in it, as I did. I also knew that the color would work perfectly with her decor. And of course she loved it! I’m so glad it will find a place in her home. I just could not pass it up, even though it didn’t work for me……you see, it was only……$68.00!
So that’s it for a few sneak peeks of what’s coming into the shop this week!
Cheers,
Cindy
That chifforobe is gorgeous! I sat and looked at it for a long time, dreaming of what I would put in each compartment. Just lovely!
I would like to know the price of the icon and the architectural salvage pieces.
Hi Pamela! The icon has already sold. We haven’t listed the architectural pieces yet, probably will do so in the next few days. Please keep an eye on the shop at www. EdithandEvelyn.etsy.com!
I love the green chest
also I like the french sofa before you recovered it , I would use it in it’s old pink silk
It sure looks lovely now also, you just have a dream of a house and treasures
Is it possible that the unknown objects are doors from an old coal stove?
Hi Jo Ann! Your guess is as good as mine! That could definitely be a possibility!
All of it is so lovely!
I would truly love to know the cost of the Holy family and the clown face container. This would be a wonderful gift to my hubby for our 40th anniversary this year. Please let me know if it is possible. Best regards, Christine
BEAUTIFUL things!! I love the green cabinet too!!!! And, $68 is a steal. I have greens in my sun room – would love it in there. Lucky sister!!
