These DIY Moss Easter eggs are a fun Spring time project!
Spring is right around the corner and these fabulous DIY moss Easter eggs are the perfect decorative accessory for your Spring decorating!!
They are quick and easy to make and they are so cute for the Spring or Easter vignettes!
You can add your own personal touches to them, making them one of a kind!
I’m going to show you a quick tutorial so that you can make your own!
All you need is the following: {affiliate links}
- Sheet Moss
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Ribbon or Jute Twine
- Charms
- Foam or Plastic Eggs
I used sheet moss because it’s not quite as messy as the loose moss, and you can find it at any craft store such as Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, or on Amazon by clicking the above links.
The sheet moss will have a paper backing on it that just peels right off.
Working with moss can make a mess, so you will want to cover your work space with newspaper or craft paper to catch all of the mess.
Taking scissors, cut small square pieces of the sheet moss.
The small squares are easier to apply on a round object, such as an egg.
Apply hot glue with the glue gun to the back of a moss square.
Then simply place the square of moss onto the egg.
Gently “push” and “spread” it on the egg once it’s applied.
Keep applying the squares of moss to the egg with the glue gun until completely covered.
There will be pieces of moss that will fall on to your work space.
When finished, if you see any bare spots on the egg, just place a drop of glue and then cover with the extra little pieces of moss.
After the egg is covered in moss, if you feel that it’s a bit “hairy”, then just take your scissors and trim it!
Once the eggs were covered in moss, I took pretty velvet ribbon and wrapped it around each one, hot glueing to the back. You could use ribbon or jute twine.
On top of the ribbon, I glued a pretty rhinestone cross and a rhinestone crown.
I am totally in love with them, and after the season, they can easily be stored for next year.
How cute would they be placed in a nest, and gracing each place setting at Easter dinner?!?
You could even place names on them and use as placecards at each setting.

Just found this post. You indicate the moss backing peels off but it appears, in one photo, that you left it on when you glued it to the egg?
The sheet moss has a sticky backing that is covered with paper. The paper backing is what I removed. It keeps it’s sticky backing, only the paper is removed. I hope that helps!
Hi Cindy
Love the moss covered eggs. You always make everything seem so easy.Like Claire I also love the new heading, it reflects your lovely good taste!
I miss not seeing your adorable RubyLou.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Maria!
You make it look so easy ! Is the moss sheet artificial or real moss ? It’s important to note that some is real and will turn brown.
This is preserved moss. Unless it’s exposed to outdoor elements and sunlight over time, it will stay green.
Thank you for the tutorial. I love It!!! You are so talented girl!!!!
Thank you Joyce! You are too sweet!
