My Favorite French Chairs
You’ve heard me say it before, and I will say it again.
I have a “thing” for French chairs.
Old, new, great shape or worn out, I love them all!
If I see a vintage French chair at an estate sale at a great price, it’s really hard for me to pass it up, and
giving them a makeover is usually pretty simple with new upholstery or paint.
My favorite French chairs are a set of four dining chairs that I found many years ago.
I gave them an update with chippy paint, grain sack, and drop cloth upholstery.
I’ll admit, I didn’t know what I was doing, because it was one of the first times I had upholstered anything.
And even though the upholstery job isn’t perfect, they have held up well over the years.
They get rotated between the dining room and our little breakfast room.
Today, they are gracing the old farm table in our breakfast room.
I adore this set of chairs, their shabby paint, the stenciled grain sack backs, and drop cloth seat
covers.
They were easy to update and they make quite a statement in any room, getting lots of attention from
anyone that visits.
After several years, they are still my very favorite French chairs1
