I’ve been obsessed with paneled walls in the bathroom lately as we gather ideas for our second bathroom refresh!
After finishing the refresh of our small guest bathroom, I’ve been thinking about the update on another bathroom in our home. Two of our guest rooms share this bathroom and it’s in great condition, just a little dated and needs a fresh look.
As I’ve been perusing magazines and Pinterest for inspiration, I’ve become a bit obsessed with fully paneled walls in bathrooms. I’ve paneled half walls in bathrooms before and it’s quite easy to do, and can elevate your bathroom design.
Our second bathroom is a nice large size with a separate shower and water closet, and a large double vanity with lots of countertop space. It definitely needs a fresh look to bring it into the current decade.
Installing wall panels is the easiest way to achieve a sophisticated look and give bathrooms a more traditional feel. This remodeling idea will instantly transform your bathroom without the need to spend a lot of money.
Whether the paneling is tongue and groove, square panels or shiplap, it can work for any size bathroom and add interest and warmth.
Let’s take a look at some of the inspiration photos that I’ve saved for this bathroom update.

I adore this look of wallpapering the inside of the floor to ceiling panels. This is such a gorgeous way to add texture to a bathroom and adds instant personality.

Paneled walls is a great way to add polish to a bathroom. And while dark or bold colors can add drama, a crisp clean white finish can act as a frame to any feature.

Guaranteed to add character to the bathroom, wall paneling is not just reserved for period homes anymore. And, from my research, this timeless feature is having a renewed moment in bathrooms everywhere at the moment.
From traditional to modern spaces, paneled walls are guaranteed to bring sophisticated charm. Not only will paneling disguise a multitude of sins {think uneven or badly finished walls} but paneling can even mask pipework, enhance smaller bathroom spaces, and will give featureless rooms, or newly built build boxy spaces, decorative detail and interest.

A painted finish that incorporates baseboards and the wall creates a smart, seamless style. Paneling will add instant character to a bathroom that’s lacking any period detailing or architectural features.

You might be wondering, is paneling in a bathroom a good idea? Although a bathroom can be a humid space, paneling can indeed be used in the bathroom. Like most wood that’s in contact with water or fluctuating temperatures, the right treatment such as primer and paint will keep wood paneling protected and in good condition for years.

Bathrooms are relatively small compared to other rooms in the house but they can pack a lot of punch with paneled walls, especially if paired with a patterned wallpaper, which I plan to do on the walls in the separate shower/water closet.
The great thing about bathroom paneling is that it’s easy to do. If you own some basic tools and have the time it’s a great DIY project. A typical bathroom can be completely transformed in a weekend. And most wall paneling is installed right over the drywall so there’s no demo involved.

Bathroom wall trim is the perfect way to make a bathroom look a lot more expensive than it actually is. Materials are cheap and installation is fairly easy for many of the designs.
Wall paneling gives a bathroom a sophisticated, classic look that few other wall finishes can match.
