We have finally finished our petite powder room transformation!
Even though it feels like it’s taken forever, the makeover of the petite powder room has finally been finished!
It’s taken much longer than we originally anticipated, with typical glitches along the way, but it’s finally completed, and I’m so pleased with it!
As with all makeovers, it’s fun to look back at the before pictures.
Our little powder room sits off the kitchen in the laundry room/pantry area. It’s such a tiny space with a full walk in shower.
Here is what the powder room looked like when we started the renovation.
{We’ll have a source list at the bottom of the post}.
As you can see, it was very dated to the early 1970’s!
The first thing we did was remove the aqua tile from the walls and cover it with board and batten, painted in my favorite white, Sherwin Williams Snowbound.
We painted all of the dark woodwork in this color.
Above the board and batten, we installed new wallpaper.
I am absolutely in love with this wallpaper!
And it was so easy to hang. It’s a new strippable wallpaper, that supposedly is very easy to remove if we decide to change it at some point.
The board and batten and the new wallpaper made such a huge impact.
We also added crown moulding at the ceiling.
Because the space is so tiny, we decided to leave the existing cabinet and sink, and just update it with a coat of paint, Sherwin Williams Pussywillow.
We added decorative feet to the bottom of the cabinet and also added glass knobs.
I originally thought that I was going to make a petite size Trumeau mirror for above the sink, a much smaller version of the one we made HERE.
But I realized that I had a tall, thin mirror in storage that would work, so I used it instead.
A wood bead chandelier was hung, replacing the old 1970’s fixture.
The old, dated shower door was removed and I hung this sweet fringed burlap shower curtain from Ballard Designs.
I also found the bath mat at Pottery Barn in a pattern and color that coordinates beautifully.
Miss RubyLou likes sitting on it!
We gave the original honeycomb tile a grout refresh, which made it look brand new!
After adding a new toilet paper holder, towel bar, and a few accessories, we were finally done!
I hope you enjoyed seeing the transformation of the petite powder room!
Up next on the renovation list is the laundry room!

I am overwhelmed when it comes to choosing moulding. Can you provide some information on the moulding styles used in the bathroom and how you determined heighth and width of the board and batten pieces. Love your remodels! Always inspiring.
I always love everything you do, and the powder room redo is spectacular. I feel that the only miss is the shower curtain. It draws attention away from the lovely sink area. So sorry for the negative comment.
I would like to compliment you on sharing the vendors you used on your beautiful bathroom. So many times links or vendors are never ever given and it gets frustrating or becomes a trip down a rabbit hole. It just proves that you are honest in conveying everything to make you a fan favorite.
Beautiful transformation! I adore that wall paper, and how smart to refresh the floor tile and keep it. This is a charming powder room.
Gorgeous Transformation & Beautiful Miniature Schnauzer!
Hi Cindy
I Love,Love everything you did. The mirror and shower curtain are my absolute favourites. You have such fantastic taste Cindy. Love to see Ruby Lou taking pride in your work.
Have a great day.
Thank you so much, Maria! Your sweet words have made my day!
Amazingly beautiful! I love all the colors and textures!
Thank you, Carrie!
So beautifully done! Love the aqua, and the wall paper is gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
I love this transformation! I think anyone can rip everything out of a room and create something lovely. But being able to work within certain parameters and STILL create beauty needs a good eye. So, so, pretty! I see that you painted the tile just inside of the doorway to the shower. Did you use something special for that, or just wing it because it doesn’t get wet? Either way, I’m in love!
Actually, when we removed the old shower door, some of the tile came off and broke. So we ended up removing all of the aqua tile and re-tiling with white tile.
Beautiful! Love the mirror especially. Another great renovation.
Thank you so much, Linda!
Perfect example of making a major impact to a space without gutting it. Beautiful!
Thank you, Nadine!
