Refreshing the Master Bedroom with a new rug and lamps!
For the last few months, we’ve slowly been refreshing the master bedroom and bringing in some soft colors for Spring.
I’ve been a little slow getting it finished with so much time being spent on completely renovating our guest room, running a busy online shop, blogging, and preparing to launch a new business project.
There doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day, but I am slowly making progress on the master bedroom refresh and I’m loving all the changes. So I wanted to show you a little peek at what we’ve been up to.
We started the bedroom refresh by completely changing the bedding to something with a bit more color. You can see the post we did on the new bedding HERE.
The hues in the new bedding are beautiful soft blues, yellows, and rose colors, which are perfect for Spring and Summer.
Something we just recently added is this gorgeous hand braided Marquis jute rug from Soft Surroundings.
I’ve always loved using natural fiber rugs in our decor, but many of them can be rough underfoot. This one is not!
It is so thick and soft on your feet, in a hand woven diamond pattern.
It’s a wonderful thick braid and I love the added texture that it brings to the room.
The other new addition are the acanthus leaf lamps on our bedside tables. I was immediately smitten with the architectural elements of these lamps!
They are also a bit distressed and gilded, with a weathered appearance, which is right down my alley. And topping them off are the perfect natural cotton shade.
The lamps are slightly smaller than the ones that I had in here before and I’m enjoying the smaller size. They create such a soft warm glow when they are lit at night.
Placing the re-upholstered bench at the foot of the bed is a nice change. It’s the perfect place to throw extra pillows at night, or sit and put on your shoes. Miss RubyLou likes to sit underneath it and pretend that you can’t see her!
The french loveseat that was there will be moved to sit in front of the windows.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found time to tackle the makeover of the french loveseat yet.
It sits and stares at me every day….taunting me……reminding me that it needs new clothes too!
It’s still on the “to do” list, and I’m determined to get it finished in the next few weeks!
Another change is that the drapes are being replaced with new, lighter ones. You can see in this picture that we’ve already replaced them in this one set of windows.
I’ve bought the rest, and will be working on getting them hung in the next few weeks as well, and then I will do a final reveal!
I just realized that when the guest bedroom renovation is finished, that I don’t have any furniture for it!
It looks as though I will also be shopping for a new bed and side tables!
Cheers, Cindy

Oh my, you did it again, and I am not surprise about this, because you always rock with your fabulous design ideas/styles. I love, everything you post. Keep them coming.
Ivory, thank you! You are too sweet, and I appreciate you comment so much!
It was pretty before and you have just done it again. I too love your santos cage doll, did you buy it framed like that or DIY it?
Hi Jane! I actually framed this myself. The cage doll is from Ballard adesigns. Thanks so much for commenting!
The room is beautiful, as usual! Love that soft rug, and you’ve inspired me again. I will try my hand at painting a chest similar to your nightstands. Don’t work too hard! Your adoring fan..
That’s wonderful, Sherri! Thank you so much for commenting!
Hi Cindy, one word…DREAMY! BTW, have been looking everywhere for the Cottage Journal with your feature. Is it just us in the Denver hinterlands or are they slow in getting it on the shelves? Have a wonderful day, Pat at Bringing French Country Home
Pat, our B&N here still doesn’t have it on the shelf. I spoke with them today and they told me that they are just late getting their shipments in. However, our local Walmart is carrying it on their shelves now, so you might try there!
Love everything! Good job!
Thank you so much, Deborah!
Very pretty! Looking forward to seeing your amazing decor in guest room.
Thank you so much, Nancy! I sold quite a bit of the furniture that used to be in the guest room, and I’m now realizing that I don’t have a bed and bedside tables for this room! It will be fun pulling it all together when the renovations are finished, which is close to being complete! Thanks so much for commenting!
All of your new additions look beautiful in your gorgeous master bedroom!
Thank you so much, Shannon!
Cindy–what wonderful changes! You’ve softened the look so beautifully. Did you refinish the bedside chests in the past? They are truly gorgeous. I’d love to see a tutorial on them if you have one….and, I hope the time-fairy grants you more time…heh.
Marie, you are so sweet, thank you so much! I painted the bedside chests a couple of years ago but there isn’t a tutorial on them. I’m thinking of launching a site doing tutorials on painting furniture with these European finishes which you may be interested in. If you are, I would love to message you when it’s ready to launch!
Cindy, thank you! I subscribe to Edith and Evelyn and would love to receive a message about your tutorial site if you decide to do it!
Oh, that’s wonderful, Marie! I am working on a membership site for doing furniture tutorials. I will let you know when it’s ready to go!
Your bedroom is a beautiful dreamy space. Love every detail
Cindy
Thank you so much, Cindy!
Lovely!! I’d like to know where you got your bedside tables pls?
Hi Kim! Both pieces are antique chests that I found at flea markets/estate sales, and then I painted them with this look. I’m so glad that you like them! Thank you so much for commenting!
Beautiful. Soft and inviting!
Thank you so much, Margie!
I drooled at your new bedroom. I loved how you put the 3 antique gilded mirrors on the back wall. Gorgeous. The one thing that caught my eye was the beautifully framed doll. Unless it was an optical illusion. What a unique idea to do that. Cant wait to see the final reveal.
Thank you so much, Cindy! Yes, the santos cage doll is mounted onto a burlap covered board that is framed inside of an antique french frame. I’m so glad that you like it!
Beautiful additions to your exquisite bedroom!!!
Thank you sweet friend!
It all looks fresh and lovely.
Thank you so much, Denise!
The rug looks beautiful and so soft,… the lamps are gorgeous and perfect style and color, …love, love them! As usual Cindy you never disappoint, you have such a great eye.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and beautiful home with all of us, big fan of yours
