Settling Into A Temporary Home
We are slowly getting settled into our temporary home in Fairhope, AL!
All the necessities were unpacked pretty quickly, but we’ve taken our time with the rest of the boxes. This home is about half the size of the one we sold, so there is quite a bit that we are leaving packed and in storage. There just isn’t any room for it!
The rooms are slowly getting decorated, and things are getting shifted and re-arranged as we see what works and what doesn’t.
I sold a lot of furniture before we moved and it’s been fun searching for “new to me” antique pieces to fill in the gaps. I’m not in a hurry and want to take my time in finding exactly the perfect piece for the right price.
The dining room still doesn’t have a dining table and chairs, there’s no bed in one of the guest rooms, and we’re still missing bedside chests in the master bedroom. But it will all come together at some point!
Leasing this home for a year will give us time to explore and take our time to find exactly where we want to buy.
In the middle of unpacking and trying to rearrange furniture, I decided to repaint our bed in the master bedroom.
This is the third change it’s seen and I am really loving the new color. I’ll share more on that process later on, as well as some before pictures.
The master bedroom is still pretty empty. Not only am I looking for two bedside chests, but also an armoire to hide the tv in. We love having a tv in the bedroom, but I like it to be hidden when not in use.
New bedding was delivered today so it’s coming together in baby steps!
I hope you have enjoyed this little sneak peek into our changes in the master bedroom. I’ll be sharing more later on as we find new pieces and tweak it as we go. I’m taking my time and letting it all come together organically!
Today is French Country Friday where I’m sharing our beautiful French secretaire makeover!
Be sure and check out all of the beautiful inspiration my French loving friends are sharing!

I have enjoyed following your blog on Pinterest for years, but have only just now discovered that you have moved to my Fairhope, my hometown! Have y’all decided where you are going to buy?
Hi Savanne! No we haven’t decided yet. We leased a home for 15 months so we would have plenty of time to look, and we’ve been looking. So far, I haven’t found just the right one!
Can you share your wall paint colors for each room? Love your decorating! Wish you would come to Dahlonega, GA and help me lol. All the best, Sandy
The walls in the family room are painted in Behr’s “Whisper”.
Cindy,
Thank you for taking me along on your journey.
Although we are not planning on making a move, one never knows what the future holds.
I love that you are taking your time to find “pieces” for you r new surroundings.
The largest mistake I made in this move of nearly 19 years ago, was in not selling enough of my previous furnishings.
I have nearly replaced every piece of Family & Living Room furniture, except the heirloom pieces!
Keep these posts coming!
Truly inspiring!
Pat
Thank you so much, Pat!
Welcome o Fairhope, imagine my surprise when I saw your post!!!!! A slice of paradise I know you will absolutely fall head over heels for! Hope to see you around town…..try The Warehouse for the most delicious King Cakes around.
Thank you so much, Sandy!
I don’t blame you not to unpack unless you need it!!! Your temporary house looks good what you have decorated. I can’t wait to see what you buy and decorate for your next home!!!!
Just beautiful so far! Is so much fun to take your time in making decor decisions. I love your sconces. Where did you find those beauties?
We actually found them at an estate sale! They were painted black so I painted them a different color. Here’s the link to the post: https://wp.me/p5Xug9-1js
Everything I can see looks beautiful!
Thank you, Candy!
Looks like you have settled in beautifully. Have fun searching for treasures! Have a great weekend.
Thank you sweet friend! Hugs and prayers! I’m so glad you’re doing better!
Have loved looking at all the pics of the remodel, just found this. So loved that you told us how you did so much. I love French decorating and try to make my home as much as possible in that style. Happy to see you have moved to one of my favorite places, Fairhope, Ala. I have gone there many times I live in Ala also. I will wait anxiously to see what you find and how you decorate it.
