Today, I’m joining other bHome bloggers in sharing some Fall ideas and inspiration!
I’ve slowly been adding simple Fall decor to the family room and kitchen/breakfast room. I used to go “all out” with seasonal/holiday decorating, taking days to decorate, and days to take it all down. But I’ve changed over the years, and now I love adding seasonal touches that are easy and simple, without spending days and days decorating!
The fireplace mantel was the first place to get a little Autumn color. I kept the basic pieces the same, an old antique clock and different height candlesticks, and just worked around them, adding some grapevine, leaves and pinecones, and pumpkins, of course.
I love that old antique French clock. It’s broken and has missing parts, but there’s just something about it that I adore. It’s made of solid marble with gilded spelter embellishments. Hubby thought I was nuts when I lugged it to the check out at the estate sale……but I see it’s beauty….don’t you?
I picked up some bags of plastic pumpkins on sale at the craft store and painted them in shades of white and gray, making them perfect to add into Fall displays.
I also covered some of the larger plastic pumpkins with preserved moss…..remember my diy giant moss balls? These moss pumpkins were so easy to make and I love the texture they add with the grapevine nest, and the soft velvet pumpkins.
Our ottoman coffee table was an easy seasonal update. I just flipped the wicker basket {a staple item on the coffee table, holding books and other decor pieces} upside down and built up an arrangement of grapevine, hydrangeas, and white pumpkins, surrounding a large moss covered pumpkin.
I never knew that you could buy chalky paint in a spray, but you can! Krylon makes a chalky spray paint in some beautiful colors and it leaves such a smooth matte finish. I was very impressed. Those little plastic pumpkins, that were originally a bright orange, sprayed in an off white chalky paint, now work perfectly sitting here and there for a little bit of Fall.
I’ve had an old French crate on my farm table in the breakfast room for awhile and it’s been so easy to just change out the contents seasonally.
It’s layered with Spanish moss, grapevine, velvet and moss pumpkins, nests, velvet acorns, and moss balls….and a couple of those little white baby pumpkins!
The blue French buffet in the kitchen/breakfast room always gets seasonal and holiday touches, and because of it’s color, it’s such a fun piece to decorate.
The old stone birdbath is layered with a moss wreath {that I’ve had forever}, Spanish Moss, and a giant velvet pumpkin. A few velvet pumpkins, moss balls and little white baby pumpkins scattered about, and done!
One of those white baby pumpkins even landed in the boxwood wreath, hanging on the gilded mirror.
Last, but not least, my old French scale in the kitchen was filled with a few seasonal goodies.
All of these simple touches can transition right on through Thanksgiving!
I’m going to be adding a few Autumn touches to the dining room table and adding some Fall color to the front door. I’m waiting for some of the trees to start changing color so I can use some clippings from them.

Where did you aquire the painting above your antique clock. I feel like I have seen it before, just can’t place it. All your decorating is spectacular. You always make me enjoy your pictures.
It’s a Chagall painting by French artist Marc Chagall. I don’t know the name of it.
Very cool decoration ideas and designs. I love the pics!
Cindy,
Lovin’ all you pretty pumpkins! I will be making some pumpkins tomorrow while watching college football.

Beautiful! Love all your seasonal touches! The moss covered pumpkins is soooo cleaver. I love how you just come up with these ideas. And of course I’m in love with the velvet pumpkins. I’ve actually been making them for a couple of years now.
Thank you so much Linda!
I love it all. Your old clock on the mantle is gorgeous. All those pumpkins you painted in such soft and warm colours. Your home is so welcoming and so many things catch the eye. You have such a gift Cindy. The huge difference in the before and after in every room are amazing. Right down to the outside windows. What a great difference just that paint around the outside windows made. The end result was so classy.
I am amazed at your kitchen. I just can’t find words for the transformation of your house to a home. I can just see you sitting by the fire with a beautiful book.
Oh, thank you so much Sue, that means so much to me! There’s nothing I love more than reading a good book by the fire….looking forward to doing some of that this Fall! Hope you’re doing well!
Gorgeous Cindy! Your home is beautiful in every season. I am in awe of the transformation of your home and how stunning it has become.
Thank you Sherry!
So stunning!! I love it al – especially those blue velvet pumpkins! Your home is so cozy, inviting and serene! Pinned! 🙂 xo Heather
Thank you so much Heather!
Loved looking at your home. Very relaxing and autumn like without going overboard. I was just wondering if you could let me know how you hung the wreath from the mirror. Is it fishing line? I would love your answer as I don’t want to use a wreath hanger as I think it is not as beautiful and natural as yours. Thanks in advance.
Thank you Denise! I hung the boxwood wreath with a suction cup! I bought a package of them from Lowe’s. You could also use 3M hangers, also from Lowe’s! Hope this helps!
I love your moss covered pumpkins. Your home is stunning.
Thank you so much Amy!
Magnificent! Your home is stunning and you photograph is so well! I get so excited when I receive an email from your blog with a new posting! I love your fall decor. A couple years ago I painted all my orange pumpkins with AS chalk paint in soft colors to blend in with my decor. I love it so much better than all the orange. Your natural touchs like grapevine, moss and pine cones add so much beautiful texture. I already have Bhome so I’ll look to see how I can enter the give-away. I love, love Decor Steals.
Thank you so much Sandy!
You make me want to paint something! Thanks for the info about spray chalk paint. My daughter likes to spray stuff so this will really help her. The whole vignette on your blue buffet is so well coordinated I can’t think of anything that isn’t perfectly fitted into it.
I was quite surprised at how well the chalky paint works, but the finish is very nice!
Cindy, of course it is all beautiful. I love how you can make fall decor elegant.
Thank you Kim!
