The Cottage Journal ~ Our Feature

Magazine Feature· Uncategorized

Many months ago, we were traveling on the Gulf Coast for an antique sale, and several days into the trip I came down with the flu. I was feeling horrible so we decided to come home a day early.

Sitting in  the car and waiting for hubby to fill up the gas tank, I decided to check my email and see if there was anything I needed to take care of before I curled up in a ball and went to sleep for the long drive home.

In the dozens of emails in my inbox, there was only one that jumped out and caught my attention immediately…..from an editor with The Cottage Journal. She wanted to feature our home in their French Cottage edition that would be published in April 2018.

I was so excited that when hubby got back in the car and took one look at me, he said, “Wow, you must be feeling better!”

I have loved The Cottage Journal for years, and save every copy for inspiration, especially their French Cottage editions.

To say that I was excited to be featured is an understatement….and yes, it did make me feel better!

I just received my copy in the mail yesterday, so I thought I would share a sneak peek with you!

With a little paper clay, decorative moulds, chalk paint, and touches of antique gold, simple craft store pumpkins become elegant French -inspired treasures. I love the beautiful texture and old world character the moulded details give each one….and no two are alike!

They’re gathered in an antique dough bowl for a soft, sophisticated fall centerpiece that can be enjoyed year after year.

“It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who “It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country, in defense of us, in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives—the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember.”~Ronald Reagan

To every family who has sacrificed a loved one so that we could enjoy our loved ones today, thank you.
