Welcoming Fall in the Foyer!
It’s no secret that Fall is my favorite season, and where we live, Autumn is very defined.
We’re already experiencing cooler temperatures and I’m beginning to see the first hint of color in the leaves.
It’s been so easy to get in the mood for Fall decorating, and I started by decorating our foyer, which welcomes every one at the front door.
Not being a big fan of the traditional colors of Fall, I chose to decorate with my favorite colors of white, cream, gold, gray, blue, and green.
An old stone birdbath is a staple decorating piece around here, because it works in so many different spaces.
I found it a few years ago while antiquing and it’s been used in just about every room of the house.
The bird bath is small in size, making it perfect for displaying on top of the commode in the foyer, and filling it with luscious velvet and linen pumpkins.
I layered magnolia leaves and lavender in among the pumpkins to bring in some natural elements, creating picturesque layers.
Carrying the same details over onto the top of the chest, I added in some charming velvet acorns in different sizes, as well as a wool pom pom garland for added character.
A petite lavender garland crowns the antique putti.
I love decorating with dried hydrangeas during the Autumn season.
Their muted colors are soft and perfect, and I’ve compiled quite a collection over the years.
Bringing in an old wire urn that’s been used outside on the patio, I lined the inside of it with green moss, and then piled dried hydrangeas inside of it.
I love their varied shades of blue, green, and lavender, and they’re perfect for adding seasonal touches throughout the house.
Somebody was keeping an eye on me as I photographed the foyer!
Whenever RubyLou sees the camera, she thinks it’s time for her to get her picture taken so it’s hard to get a shot without her standing in it!
I know the colors I’ve chosen aren’t your typical Fall colors, but I love them for our home.
They would also work with rustic orange added in, if you love the more traditional Autumn colors.
I found some purple mums this morning and I placed one inside a large architectural capital that I turned upside down.
It’s really pretty by the front door, but I will have to move it outside in the next couple of days, so it will continue to thrive.
I have a brown thumb, and plants usually do better outside where Mother Nature tends to them!
Even the goose on top of the Mora clock received a bit of greenery.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing our Fall decorating in the foyer!
Cheers,
Cindy
I’m moving into a new home that has some built in French country elements but very little decor… I’m getting stuck with the colors as I’ve found some pieces for repainting and am anxious to start!!! Do you have any recommendations?
Love, love, love!!! And that sweet puppy, love some more!!
Thank you, Pamela!
Where did you get the tall floor candle holders
They came from an antique market in Kansas City!
Oh that’s beautiful Cindy! I love your hydrangeas – I’m not a huge fan of orange either. You gave me several ideas I’m going to try for our fall decorating! Thanks so much for the lovely tour!
