Welcoming Fall in the Foyer

If you’re arriving here from Randi’s gorgeous blog, Randi Garrett Design, then we’re so glad you’re here to see how we’re welcoming Fall in the foyer!

It’s no secret that Fall is my favorite season, and where we live, Autumn is very defined.

We’re already experiencing cooler temperatures and I’m beginning to see the first hint of color in the leaves.

It’s been so easy to get in the mood for Fall decorating, and I started by decorating our foyer, which welcomes every one at the front door.

Not being a big fan of the traditional colors of Fall, I chose to decorate with my favorite colors of white, cream, gold, gray, blue, and green.

An old stone birdbath is a staple decorating piece around here, because it works in so many different spaces.

I found it a few years ago while antiquing and it’s been used in just about every room of the house.

The bird bath is small in size, making it perfect for displaying on top of the commode in the foyer, and filling it with luscious velvet and linen pumpkins.

I layered magnolia leaves and lavender in among the pumpkins to bring in some natural elements, creating picturesque layers.

Carrying the same details over onto the top of the chest, I added in some charming velvet acorns in different sizes, as well as a wool pom pom garland for added character.

I love decorating with dried hydrangeas during the Autumn season.

Their muted colors are soft and perfect, and I’ve compiled quite a collection over the years.

Bringing in an old wire urn that’s been used outside on the patio, I lined the inside of it with green moss, and then piled dried hydrangeas inside of it.

I love their varied shades of blue, green, and lavender, and they’re perfect for adding seasonal touches throughout the house.

Somebody was keeping an eye on me as I photographed the foyer!

Whenever RubyLou sees the camera, she thinks it’s time for her to get her picture taken so it’s hard to get a shot without her standing in it!

I know the colors I’ve chosen aren’t your typical Fall colors, but I love them for our home.

They would also work with rustic orange added in, if you love the more traditional Autumn colors.

I found some purple mums this morning and I placed one inside a large architectural capital that I turned upside down.

It’s really pretty by the front door, but I will have to move it outside in the next couple of days, so it will continue to thrive.

I have a brown thumb, and plants usually do better outside where Mother Nature tends to them!

Even the goose on top of the Mora clock received a bit of greenery.

  1. Stunning! The pumpkins, the hydrangeas, all absolutely beautiful. Did you make the velvet pumpkins or purchase, and if made, how do you make them? Would love to try!

  2. I know you get this ALL the time but I totally think you should open your home up to walk thru tours! I’d make the road trip! Of maybe a B&B or a even just a drive by glance. Everything is beautiful!

  3. Cindy, everything looks amazing! You style so beautifully! I must say, RubyLou has my heart. Her sweet head sticking out is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!

    • Thank you so much! Miss RubyLou is a little “camera ham”. Every time she sees me getting the camera out, she comes running because she thinks she’s going to get her picture taken….and a treat!

  4. Cindy, this foyer is my favorite room. First of all,it is absolutely beautiful, but also soothing and welcome. The wire planter and Ruby Lou are the stars in this reveal.

  5. Miss Ruby Lou is definitely the icing on this beautiful cake!!!! Your pumpkins and gorgeous and the hydrangeas are exquisite. I so miss my blue hydrangeas. The limelights are OK but don’t dry as pretty as the others. Your foyer is like a big hug as you walk in!

  6. Cindy every picture is breathtaking! I find myself staring at each photo taking in all of the gorgeous details! You my friend are a true artist! Thank you so much for joining us and sharing your beautiful home! Happy fall!

  7. I looked at every other bloggers Fall home tours…and a few I looked at more rooms in their home. I can honestly say, your home Cindy (and of course RubyLou!) is the only home that made me swoon!

    • Thank you, Carol! I bought that chest many years ago when we lived on the Gulf Coast. I have loved it all these years and can’t bring myself to get rid of it, even though we no longer live near water!

We would love to hear from you!
