Simple Fall Decor
A few touches of simple Fall decor has arrived in our home in the last few weeks. Nothing over the top, just a few touches here and there.
Are ya’ll ready for 2020 to be over like I am?
This has been the craziest year, and to be honest, this year has left me exhausted, so I’m keeping the holiday and seasonal decor very simple and easy.
And in doing so, the simplicity creates a calmness that is so much needed and appreciated in this chaotic world we’re living in.
To welcome Fall into our living room, I began by changing out the slipcovers on our IKEA sofas, opting for the linen covers instead of the white that I usually have on them throughout the Spring and Summer months.
The linen covers create a softer, neutral background which is the perfect backdrop for the muted Fall colors that I’m using this year.
I have an old chippy urn that sits on our coffee table year round.
I fill it with white coral in the Summer, and for Fall, I replaced the coral with dried hydrangeas in muted colors of cream and blue.
I love this color of blue and it plays so well with the rest of our decor.
Moss balls are a staple in my decor and I love using them displayed on top of altar candlesticks instead of candles.
The color and texture of the moss balls work in all of the seasons, and I rarely replace them.
For Fall, they are perfect, as are the giant textured moss balls displayed on the antique architectural capitals on the hearth of the fireplace.
I cleared all of the decor off of the mantel and layered eucalyptus garland across the mantel and nested white pumpkins in different sizes among the leaves.
Flickering candles is another decor staple that I always keep on hand, and I placed several of them throughout the garland and pumpkins.
I love turning the candles on each evening, they create such a warm and cozy glow.
This was such an easy and simple way to decorate the mantel. It literally took only minutes.
The flickering candles are some of the best I’ve found! They are remote controlled and the “flame” flickers and moves so realistically!

The only other room that I decorated was the breakfast room.
The old dough bowl that sits on the breakfast table is filled with boxwood greenery and the beautiful DIY pumpkins that I created with clay moulds.
I still love these sweet pumpkins, especially those with the French medallions!
The antique French Vaisselier received a few Fall touches by simply placing a small pile of velvet pumpkins in among the collection of typography ironstone.
Sometimes simple decor has a bigger impact than using huge amounts and covering every surface. And it definitely creates a calm space!

The Rosemary topiaries are faux! I’ve had them forever, I just switch out the container periodically!

Absolutely LOVE IT! The only thing that I would change is wheat instead of lavender in the shell bowl but I bet the lavender is more in tone with the room in person than in a picture. Your Fall look is PERFECT, loved seeing it.
I think, especially for those who have made a downsize or move in the last year or so, a lot of us ladies are decorating more simply these days. Also, lots of us are simply not wanting to buy from China right now.
